Lillehammer – A Guide to Norway’s Olympic City
August 2025: A brand new guided walking tour for your ears through the VoiceMap app is created at Lillehammer – a city where history, culture and sports meet in scenic surroundings.

My tour starts at Lillehammer Train Station, and stroll through the city center and the charming pedestrian street, before passing by the home of author Sigrid Undset – «Bjerkebæk». Continuing along the Olympic Park, where you may see several of the arenas for the 1994 Winter Olympics – the game that left a lasting legacy.
Still with my sound in your ear, you walk further south, and pass by the Maihaugen Open-Air Museum, where you also may find the Norwegian Olympic Museum, that offers insights into Norwegian heritage and Olympic history, if you pay it a visit.
Finally, you finish with a gentle descent back to the city center, ending in the peaceful Søndre Park – a perfect spot to relax and reflect.
The Lillehammer walking tour is approximately 3,7 kilometers, and will take you about 1 hour to complete, depending of your pace along the way, of course.
So, why should you choose a VoiceMap guided tour, instead of a tour with a physical guide? Well, here you can just put on your earbuds, put your phone in your pocket, walk away and listen to the information you get along the way. You also get a description of the direction you should go to the next audio clip. You don’t have to go in a group where you always have to wait for the last person or those who have lots of questions along the way. Here you complete the tour completely at your own pace. If you want to take a coffee break at a cafe along the way – well okey, then you do that.
